Representatives from Myerson specialist Agricultural team, including Andrew Brown, Nichola Bright, Andrew Stone, Clara Staunton and Chris Wilson were delighted to attend the Lead-In event at Cultivate Conference 2026, held on 29th April in Macclesfield, Cheshire and also to attend the Conference itself which was held on the following day. Myerson were also pleased to be a sponsor of the Lead-In event.
Cultivate is the UK’s leading rural leadership conference, bringing together ambitious rural professionals, innovative agri businesses and future leaders to connect and be inspired, making it a standout event in the agricultural calendar.
A Valuable Networking Opportunity
The Lead-In event provided the perfect setting to connect with professionals from across the agricultural sector in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Set in beautiful surroundings, it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout, with a diverse mix of attendees including landowners, agri-businesses and trusted advisers from across the North West and beyond.
Events like these are invaluable in fostering meaningful relationships and encouraging open discussion across the industry and Myerson was proud to support such a well-attended and engaging evening.
Leading Through Change
The following day’s conference centred around the theme “Leading Through Change”, a topic that resonates deeply within the agricultural community. The sector has always demonstrated resilience and adaptability, and it is clear that this will continue as businesses navigate ongoing economic, trading, environmental and regulatory change.
Throughout the day, there was a strong focus on embracing change, anticipating challenges and being ready to adapt. These messages that are increasingly relevant across the agri sector.
Inspiring Stories from Family Businesses
We were particularly inspired by the stories shared by leading family businesses. Sarah Dean, Chair of Noble Foods (an industry-leader in the egg and animal feed market) offered a compelling insight into her journey as a fourth-generation family member, including leading a successful family buyback to return the business to full family ownership. Her focus on purpose, culture, sustainability and innovation highlights how legacy businesses can evolve while staying true to their core values.
Similarly, Eleanor Thatcher, fifth-generation cider maker at Thatchers Cider, shared her passion for sustainability and long-term stewardship. Her commitment to reducing carbon footprint and protecting biodiversity demonstrates how future-focused leadership is shaping the next generation of agricultural enterprises.
Thought Leadership and Key Takeaways
The conference also featured powerful and thought-provoking talks from Oli France and Nigel Risner, encouraging delegates to lead with confidence in an evolving landscape.
Key themes such as diversification and succession planning were widely discussed among attendees. These are critical considerations for many agricultural businesses. Such conversations reinforced the importance of having trusted advisers who understand both the commercial and personal aspects of rural enterprises.
