David specialises in all aspects of employment law, acting for a range of employers, senior executives, and individual employees.

David has particular experience in dealing with Employment Tribunal claims in relation to Unfair Dismissal, Constructive Dismissal, Discrimination and Whistleblowing. He also has experience of managing group claims at the Employment Tribunal, such as those relating to employee consultation on Collective Redundancies and Transfer of Undertakings (TUPE).

David has advised on workplace disputes where there are wider industrial relations concerns, such as negotiating with employee groups on changes to terms and conditions of employment and business reorganisations.

David also provides advice to HR professionals, which includes reviewing and drafting a variety of employment related documents such as employment contracts, policies, handbooks, disciplinary and grievance procedures and settlement agreements.

In addition to the core areas of Employment Law, David has also acted for clients on other areas of law that can arise in the workplace, such as Data Protection, Privacy, and Human Rights.

David graduated from University College London in 1995. After working in the IT sector for a number of years, he retrained as a solicitor, graduating from MMU Law School in 2009. David trained at Walker Smith Way solicitors in Chester, qualifying in September 2012. He continued to practice at Walker Smith Way after qualification, then Slater and Gordon Lawyers in Manchester, before joining Myerson in June 2016. David has specialised in Employment law since qualification.


Expertise and Past Cases

Examples of David’s notable matters include:

  • Successfully recovered at the Employment Tribunal a Protective Award on behalf of 64 employees who were dismissed for redundancy without notice, with compensation totalling around £330,000.
  • Negotiated a six-figure exit package for a company director, which included disposal of their company shareholding.
  • Provided strategic advice to a manufacturing company on the implementation of a business restructure, including a site relocation, collective consultation on redundancies, and negotiations with the trade union.
  • Acted for a professional musician in a claim for Disability Discrimination, which also included issues relating to self-employment and worker status.
  • Represented a client in a County Court matter for breach of the Data Protection Act, where sensitive personal information had been unlawfully disclosed to colleagues.
  • Advised a large regional company on their response to an investigation by the Information Commissioner, which resulted in no further action being taken.
