This week, we’re celebrating one year of being 100% employee-owned. What a year it’s been! Since September 2024, we’ve welcomed new team members, strengthened our culture, and enjoyed the sense of pride and collaboration that employee ownership brings.
A Year of People and Progress
Employee ownership has given everyone at Myerson a stronger voice in the firm’s future. Over the past year, we’ve welcomed 32 new starters and attracted record applications for our legal apprenticeship and trainee programmes; proof of the interest and ambition this model inspires.

Positive Impact for Clients and the Sector
Clients have responded positively to our employee-owned model, recognising the stability, collaboration, and long-term focus it brings. Having navigated our own transition, Myerson’s Corporate team has also advised numerous other businesses on their journey to becoming Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs), sharing their knowledge and practical guidance.

Employee Ownership in the UK
Myerson is proud to be part of a growing movement of employee-owned businesses in the UK. Today, over 2,250 businesses operate under this model, contributing £32–£41bn to the economy and employing around 358,000 people. In 2024 alone, 560 businesses made the transition to employee ownership, reflecting the increasing appeal of this approach across sectors.
Celebrating Together
On the 19th June, we marked our first Employee Ownership Day (EO Day) by joining celebrations across the EO community; a chance for our people to come together, reflect on the past year, and celebrate the benefits of working in an employee-owned firm.
Recognition Along the Way
Over the past year, our journey has been recognised across the profession:
- Featured on the front cover of the Law Society Gazette in a special report on employee-owned firms – read the article here.
- Our Corporate Team winning the Rainmakers Award (Cheshire).
- Winners of the Best Workplace Wellbeing Award at the Private Client Modern Law Awards 2025.
- Commended at The Lawyer’s awards in the Independents category.
- Our CEO Carl Newton named in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 list of industry leaders.
These recognitions highlight the bold move to become employee-owned and the positive response it has received.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate this milestone, it’s clear that employee ownership has strengthened our culture, helped us attract exceptional talent, and opened opportunities to support others on the same path. Later this year, we’ll be joining hundreds of like-minded organisations at the Employee Ownership Association Conference on 25–26th November in Telford, connecting with peers and celebrating the growing movement of employee-owned businesses across the UK.
