Richard Lloyd

Biography

Richard is the Chief Executive of Myerson Solicitors, one of UK’s leading independent employee-owned firms.

Having joined Myerson in 2000 to establish the firm's Commercial Property practice, Richard has been instrumental in shaping the firm's growth and success over the last two decades. Prior to joining Myerson, he trained and practised at Robert Muckle (now Muckle LLP) and national law firm Hammonds (now Squire Patton Boggs).

Over a career spanning more than 26 years with the firm, Richard built the Commercial Property team into one of the firm's largest and most successful departments and subsequently became Head of Real Estate.

His commercial approach, leadership skills, and commitment to client service have helped strengthen Myerson's reputation as a trusted legal adviser to businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals across the UK and internationally.

In 2019, Richard was appointed Chief Operating Officer, taking responsibility for delivering the firm's operational strategy and business transformation agenda.

Working closely with the Executive Team, he led key strategic initiatives that supported Myerson's continued growth, enhanced operational performance, and strengthened the firm's market position.

He also played a pivotal role in the firm's transition to becoming Manchester's first 100% employee-owned law firm, helping to secure its long-term independence and preserve its unique culture.

As Chief Executive, Richard is responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of the firm.

He is focused on delivering sustainable growth, investing in the firm's people and technology, and ensuring Myerson continues to provide exceptional legal services and an outstanding client experience.

Beyond his executive responsibilities, Richard plays an active role in Myerson's international relationships through the firm's membership of MSI Global Alliance, one of the world’s leading international associations of independent legal and accounting firms.

Through this network, he supports collaboration with trusted advisers across more than 100 countries, helping clients access seamless international support.

Richard is passionate about preserving Myerson's independence, strengthening its employee-owned culture, and ensuring the firm continues to thrive for future generations of clients, colleagues and employee owners.

Richard has particular expertise in acting for investor and developer clients, and given his experience is seen as a trusted advisor for many clients owning or developing property.

Recent notable cases that Richard has worked on include: 

• Leading a team of solicitors acting for a developer in the supported living sector regarding numerous acquisitions and disposals of the completed property to pension funds.
• Advising the family office of a wealthy individual concerning the acquisition of multiple properties to add to their substantial commercial property portfolio.
• Acting for the owner of a substantial industrial site on the sale of the site to a developer conditional upon gaining planning for the construction of warehouses.
• Acting for the owner of an industrial estate on the sale of the estate to a regional housebuilder.
• Acting for a property investment company concerning the acquisition of a series of substantial retail properties.
