Biography

Richard qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and worked at Davies Arnold Cooper before moving to Halliwell Landau (later Halliwells) where he became a partner in 2003. After nearly 10 years at Halliwells, Richard moved to JMW to set up its insolvency practice and led the team there for over a decade.

Richard is a fellow of R3 (the Association of Business Recovery Professionals), the trade association for the UK's insolvency and restructuring sector.

Richard sat on R3's national council as North West regional representative for 10 years from 2012. He chaired its national membership committee for 4 years from 2018 and was R3 North West Regional chair from 2014 to 2017. Richard currently sits on both R3's national membership committee and its North West regional committee.

Richard has ranked in Insolvency Today's Power 100, a list of the UK's most influential insolvency professionals.

My career highlight to date would probably be acting for N Brown Group on the acquisition out of administration of the business and assets of High & Mighty, the well known outsize gentleman's retailer, which saved 14 of the chain's 23 UK stores, preserving the jobs of many employees.
