Myerson is enhancing its Family Mediation offering in response to growing demand for Non-Court Dispute Resolution (NCDR) solutions for separating families.
The specialist service is led by Jane Tenquist, Partner and Head of the Family Team, who has recently reaccredited as a Family Mediator and was first accredited in 2014. Jane can undertake Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings (MIAMs), provide MIAM certificates where required, and conduct joint mediations concerning both children and financial matters.
Family Mediation is a private, confidential and non-confrontational process that helps separating couples resolve issues relating to children, finances and practical arrangements. Discussions take place on a without prejudice basis, enabling participants to explore proposals openly and without the pressure to agree to anything they are uncomfortable with.
The process promotes communication, supports informed decision-making and allows families to retain control over the outcome. The interests of children remain central to the discussions and the transparent financial disclosure required during mediation can be shared with professional advisers if legal or financial guidance is needed. Where relevant and agreed by both participants, additional professionals such as pension specialists, financial advisers or therapists can also be involved.
The increase in demand for mediation follows significant pressures within the Family Court, alongside the continued national expectation for separating couples to consider non court dispute resolution before issuing court proceedings. Mediation offers a quicker, more cost-effective and more constructive alternative for many families seeking dignified and practical solutions.
Jane Tenquist, comments: “Families are increasingly looking for calm, dignified and constructive ways to resolve matters. Mediation provides a safe and supported environment in which participants can talk openly, understand options and work towards sustainable arrangements for their future. As our Family Team continues to grow, mediation remains central to our commitment to offering clients a complete and compassionate service during what can be a very emotional time.”
Mediation appointments are available either in person at Myerson’s Altrincham office or remotely, providing flexibility to suit each family’s needs.
