Recent Experience

Examples of Simon’s experience include:

  • Dealing with estates of all sizes from taxable multi-million-pound estates with agricultural and business assets, and assets in different jurisdictions, to smaller non-taxable estates;
  • Acting for independent court-appointed Executors to administer estates that have previously been incorrectly administered, or where there have been arguments between the beneficiaries;
  • Advising clients on the best structure for their Wills to protect assets for younger generations and on the best way to structure Wills to mitigate Inheritance Tax;
  • Acting as Attorney under a Lasting Power of Attorney; and,
  • Guiding clients through the process of creating Lasting Powers of Attorney, and assisting a client in revoking their Lasting Powers of Attorney (and creating new ones) when they decided their attorneys were no longer suitable.
  • Working on numerous estates where Myerson Trust Corporation have been appointed as independent Personal Representative of an estate due to a falling out between the Executors.

  • Working closely with our Probate Litigation team, and both the Contentious Probate and Private Client teams of other firms, to protect our client’s interests and ensure that the estate (being handled by another firm) was dealt with correctly.  This resulted in a significant sum being paid to our client from a Trust of which they were only a potential beneficiary.

  • Assisting a vulnerable client to make various iterations of their Will and helping them to revoke their Power of Attorney and set up a new one.

  • Acting as a replacement attorney under a Lasting Power of Attorney where the primary attorney was removed by the Court.
