As a team we had planned, this year, to walk the 84 miles of Hadrian’s Wall to support our two local charities, The Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home and The Booth Centre.  Unfortunately, this walk was postponed due to the recent pandemic.

So, instead.

On Saturday 16th May, our employees challenged themselves, with the help of their families, to try and beat the 84-mile distance…and we smashed it! A huge 242 miles were covered!

242 miles is the equivalent to:

  • 3,894 football fields
  • Just over 9 marathons
  • The length of 88,918 double-decker buses!

This is a fantastic effort from our employees, who along the way competed in challenges and shared images of themselves on WhatsApp.

Challenges included:

  • Guess the total miles
  • Best wall photo challenge
  • Matchbox competition (to seek out the most interesting thing that you can find to fit inside a matchbox)
  • The minute mile challenge (how many miles can you travel in 60 mins)
  • The longest distance travelled

Andrew Chapman, Partner and Head of CSR Committee at Myerson said;

“All the employees at Myerson are fantastic when it comes to taking part in any challenge or social event. We all encourage one another to come up with ideas and it is always so much fun to take part. This walk, was the first virtual walk we had done as a team, using Strava to map our journeys, whilst sharing our photos on WhatsApp. The challenges we set added a little competitive edge and encouraged our families and children to join us for the day too.”

The team created a children’s checklist to spot items on their walk. Why not try it with your families and download the checklist here.

Thank you to Sweet Intentions Candy for providing the Myerson prizes for the winners. They went down a treat!
