We want to thank everyone who attended the Myerson Solicitors Real Estate Network webinar: What's Next For Landlords Following the Extension of the Moratorium?

You can now watch a replay of the webinar below, presented by Partner and Head of Real Estate, Joanne Perritt, and Partner within Real Estate Litigation, Laura Pile, as they discuss the extension of the moratorium.

We are sure that you will have seen the Government’s announcement (on 16 June 2021) that new legislation is to be introduced in this parliamentary session for the resolution of COVID-19 debts.

This will see compulsory binding arbitration where commercial property landlords and tenant negotiations fail to compromise on arrears. In addition, the Moratorium on forfeiture for non-payment of rent, which was to end on 30 June 2021, has now been extended to 25 March 2022.

So, what does this mean for commercial property landlords, and what might they do to protect their position in the coming months?
