It’s hard to find a skyline free from the silhouettes of cranes in towns and cities across the North West and the latest figures from the Office of National Statistics have confirmed that the region is indeed experiencing a construction boom.

According to figures released on 10 October 2018, the total construction output across the region has increased by 15% to more than £4.6 billion in the 3 months to August 2018 compared to the same period in 2017.

Whilst overall construction output in Great Britain for this period has risen by 1.5% compared to the same period last year, the North West has increased by 10 times the national average during this period.

The value of construction work on new housing in the North West has increased by £386 million this quarter compared to the same quarter in 2017 and output of new infrastructure projects has also risen during this period.

Whilst the impact of Brexit on the construction industry is still unknown, this boost is welcome news both for the North West’s construction sector and for the region.
