We routinely work in conjunction with our Corporate and Commercial Department, providing advice on the employment aspects of transactions, including business sales and reorganisations, outsourcing / insourcing / second generation contracting and purchases out of insolvency.

Our experience includes reviewing extensive portfolios of employment related information in order to advise clients on the potential legal and financial consequences of transactions, particularly in insolvency situations when employment related liabilities are crucial.

We also advise on the operation of the TUPE (the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006), including guiding clients through the often complicated information and consultation obligations and the requirement for the provision of employee liability information.

In addition, we provide training and advice on the election of representatives and to elected representatives to equip them to participate effectively in information and consultation exercises.

We are aware that clarity on costs is vitally important to our clients. As standard practice, we give our clients an estimate of the costs involved in undertaking any piece of work at the outset. We then provide cost updates on a your case on a regular basis.

We also work closely with our clients to ensure that we meet their expectations both in terms of their objectives for a particular piece of work and in relation to costs. In addition, we are happy to discuss fixed fees and retainer arrangements and agreements if that is helpful to you.

Finally, your work is carried out by a solicitor in the team, who knows your business best. It is also carried out at the appropriate level, depending on the complexity, sensitivity and importance of the matter.
