The team
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Probate Litigation Solicitor to join our top tier Contentious Trusts and Probate team.
The role will report directly to the Head of Department Partner and will involve providing the highest quality advice to clients on all types of probate litigation, including IPFDA claims, validity challenges, removal of executors, construction applications and claims for proprietary estoppel.
Our Contentious Trusts and Probate team deal with a wide range of high-value and complex cases and its strong reputation is long-recognised by The Legal 500 granting them ‘Top Tier’ status.
The growing team currently consists of 9 Solicitors, a Trainee Solicitor and two Paralegals. All of our solicitors are either full members of ACTAPS (the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists) or are working towards this.

What you’ll do
- Act for claimants and defendants on IPFDA claims and validity challenges, included drafting proceedings, drafting witness statements, undertaking disclosure and instructing counsel.
- Assess and review enquiries and advising members of the public. Converting those enquiries into clients.
- Involvement in practice development, not only for the Dispute Resolution department, but also for the other legal services offered by the firm.
- Prepare Larke-v-Nugus letters and interrogate and interpret responses.
- Assist with matters arising from the Myerson Private team, including advising on Estates that become contested.
- Give accurate, prompt, realistic and relevant advice in response to clients’ enquiries whilst managing their expectations.
- Gain an understanding of clients’ requirements and how to achieve their needs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Work collaboratively with fellow team members and other departments within the firm.
- Mentor and supervise junior members of the team.
- Play a leading role in developing business for the department.
- Attend internal and external training and networking events. You will also be required to play an active role in delivering training.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for a qualified solicitor of at least 5 years PQE. Experience of (or at the very least a strong understanding of) probate litigation claims is essential.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining meticulous attention to detail is important. Candidates are required to have an excellent client management and matter management skills. The ability to work well with experienced professionals, within a team orientated environment whilst maintaining high work standards and find sound solutions to complex legal issues is essential.
The successful candidate will conduct their own work as a lead fee earner on a wide range of probate litigation matters, providing high quality advice representing a leading law firm.
