Biography

Chris is the Head of Business Development here at Myerson, working with clients and contacts across a wide range of sectors, helping them to connect with the specialist legal expertise they need, as well as providing general legal advice.

Chris also leads the Myerson Connections Team - “a referral scheme for law firms, solicitors and those operating in the legal sector”.  Myerson Connections provides a premium service, helping other law firms: (1) in areas of law they do not practice, (2) with conflicts of interest and (3) when they are operating at capacity.

Chris joined Myerson in 2014 as a solicitor in the Corporate Commercial department dealing with company mergers, sales & acquisitions, incorporation’s, group re-organisations and general commercial matters.

In his spare time, Chris is a keen lacrosse player, and with over 25 years of experience, he is recognised internationally as one of the best lacrosse stick stringers in the world. Chris has worked with a number of leading global sporting goods manufacturers, assisting with R&D projects, product design and market testing.

Chris was educated locally at Stockport Grammar School and studied law at the University of Liverpool, where he achieved a 2:1 LLB (Hons) degree. He went on to study the bespoke, law firm partner-led, LPC Plus at the University of Law, attaining a Commendation.

Chris undertook his Training Contract with national law firm Halliwells LLP in 2008, where he gained a range of experience in Corporate and Commercial Law. As part of his training, Chris was seconded to Manchester United Football Club to work with their Legal and Business Affairs team.

In 2010, on qualification, Chris moved to Freeths LLP, where he focused on Corporate Finance matters, working with a range of SME and owner-managed businesses. Chris moved out of private practice in 2012 to spend two years working directly for an SME business, gaining first-hand experience in business development, operations, marketing and finance.

Chris has been involved with a number of Corporate Commercial transactions, including:

  • the purchase of a web monitoring service by a leading global information services company
  • the management buyout of a food manufacturing company
  • the incorporation and start-up investment in a care home for disabled children
  • the asset sale of an automotive breakdown and transportation company
  • the group reorganisation of an investment group
  • the investment in a restaurant chain by a major UK business fund
  • the sale and purchase of various franchise businesses and groups
  • the merger of two city centre law firms
