Trainee Solicitor Vacancies and Summer Vacation Scheme Placements:

Trainee Solicitors – 37 hours per week, competitive salary plus staff benefits

We are now recruiting for our September 2018 and September 2019 Trainee Solicitor programmes.

We are looking for enthusiastic Trainee Solicitors who have a desire to progress their career in a supportive environment.

Trainees at Myerson will be provided with the opportunity to work across a number of areas of law. Our departments include:

Myerson Summer Vacation Scheme

Applications are now open for the Myerson Summer Vacation Scheme.  We will be running two week-long vacation schemes this year which will take place from 24 July 2017 to 4 August 2017.

The scheme will offer students the opportunity to gain a week’s work experience in various areas of law and will also provide students with an insight into marketing, accounts and life as a Trainee Solicitor.  Applicants will need to have completed at least two years at university (in any discipline) to be considered for this programme.

Solicitor Vacancies:

Dispute Resolution and Commercial Litigation Solicitor (around 0-4 years’ PQE) – salary competitive, dependent upon experience plus staff benefits

Our Dispute Resolution team is one of the leading Dispute Resolution departments in the North West.  The department’s “strong reputation” is recognised by The Legal 500 having been awarded ‘Top Tier’ status 4 years running.  The team currently consists of four partners, one Senior Solicitor, four assistant Solicitors and two Trainees.  Due to continued expansion, the department is looking to recruit a Solicitor of around 0-4 years’ PQE.

The successful candidate will be someone with a good academic background and training in litigation, who is looking to further develop their career and maintain a good quality of work in a team-orientated environment.  Candidates are required to have excellent all round litigation experience and have an ability to assist senior litigators and run smaller files under supervision.  The role would suit candidates who have an ability to take responsibility whilst working in a supportive and collegiate environment.

Candidates must be able to respond to client’s urgent requirements whilst maintaining and supporting the maintenance of a proper work/life balance.  Candidates should have an ability and willingness to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and other departments of the firm.  The role will also provide scope for the successful candidate to be involved in practice development not only for the department but also for the other legal services offered by the firm.  The firm and department is growing rapidly with opportunities to advance and develop.

Probate Litigation Solicitor (around 0-4 years’ PQE) – salary competitive, dependent upon experience plus staff benefits

Due to a successful marketing campaign (both on-line and locally) the probate litigation team at Myerson is awash with quality probate litigation instructions.  Examples of work include a high-profile construction case of 2016 (Jones and Jump -v- Lister); numerous IPFDA cases for both claimant and defendant, validity challenges re both capacity and undue influence and applications regarding the administration of estates, including for the removal of executors.  The team is retained by executors, trustees, beneficiaries and charities.  As a result of the increase in work which, given the investments made by the firm, is forecast to increase for 2017 and beyond, the Dispute Resolution Department is seeking to recruit a probate litigation solicitor of around 0-4 years’ PQE.  The Dispute Resolution team consists of a team of 11, which includes a partner, solicitor and trainee dealing exclusively with probate litigation matters.

The firm is based in Altrincham in an affluent area of South Manchester/North Cheshire.  The Dispute Resolution team is long-recognised by the Legal 500 granting them “Top Tier” status and the firm is also a member of the MSI Global Alliance of independent law firms and the UK200Group. The Dispute Resolution team is also recognised for its probate litigation work by the Legal 500 and the team are members of the Northern Contentious Probate Group and are members of ACTAPS.  The firm believes in investing in its lawyers.

The successful candidate will be someone with a good academic background and training, who is looking to gain experience and maintain a high quality of work in a team-orientated environment.  Candidates are required to have a keen interest in probate litigation and will need to demonstrate an ability to develop high levels of technical skill and strong client relationships.

The position would suit candidates who have an ability to work as part of a team and also independently in a supportive environment, who are commercial and decisive and who are able to respond to clients’ urgent requirements.  Candidates should have an aptitude and willingness to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and other departments of the firm.  The role will also provide scope for the successful candidate to be involved in practice development, not only for the Dispute Resolution Department but also for the other legal services offered by the firm.

Support Vacancies:

Legal PA/Secretary – 37 hours per week, salary dependent upon experience plus staff benefits

We are looking for a Legal PA/Secretary to provide a high quality administration service to the firm and its fee earners. Duties will include; document production, audio typing, responding to client calls and emails, diary management, filing, reception cover and any other administrative duties as required.

The successful candidate will have an excellent interpersonal, organisational, verbal and written communication skills and have experience of providing a high quality administration service. Excellent MS Office skills and the ability to carry out multiple and varied tasks simultaneously is essential. Experience of working in a professional services environment is desirable.
